The most Magickal Night of the Year. (Beltanes dark twin). A night of Shadows,Ghost

stories, tricks or treats. Also known as day of the dead

night when the veil that seperates our world from the spirit world is at its thinnest.

(the end of the old Year) when the new year begins with the onset of the dark phase of the year, just

as the new day begins at sundown.

celebrating the dead and divining the future, are inexorably intertwined in Samhain

some Ideas for samhain are

*Honor the Dead, remember those who have passed on

*Light Candles

*Scry by Fire or scrying mirror

*leave an offerring outside for the Dead and Spirits such as food

 

 

Yule

when the moon is closes to the Earth

Yule is the Anglo-saxon word for the festival of the winter solstice. It comes from the original 'Iul'

meaning "Wheel", in the old almanacs. Winter solstice was called Alban Arthan by the Druids.\

It was then when the ChiefDruid cut the Sacred mistletoe from the Oak. A custom

that still lingerswith our use of Mistletoe for cristmas decorations

Mistletoe is usually banned from churches at christmas, because of its pagan association

Maybe someone should tell them that christmas is Realy a pagan Holliday

with a different name. and that noone realy know when Jesus was Born

Candlemas is the Cristianized name for this holliday

also known to the irish as "Brigits Day" in honor of the great Irish Goddess

The Roman Catholic church could not Easily call the great goddess of Ireland a Demon

so they canonized her instead.Hence she would be "Saint Brigit" patron saint of smithcraft, poetry

and Healing. Brigit's holliday was marked by the kindling of Sacred Fires.

The roman church was quick to confiscate this symbolism as well, making Candlemas as the day to

bless all the church candles that would be used  for the coming Liturgical
